This DEWALT DW087K Laser Level Reviews for 2012 discusses the pros and cons of the Horizontal and Vertical Self-Leveling Line Laser Level.

Pros:

1. Well designed, durable contractor grade lockable injection molded case, made from recycled materials! Includes dedicated space for manual and an extra set of batteries (Way to go Dewalt!!)
2. Strong Magnetic base with a 'functional' 180 degree rotating rear base plate.
3. Includes multiple mounting options.
4. Appears to be 'water resistant' (Not personally tested)
5. Powerful class 2 laser. Strong horizontal and/or vertical laser projection on walls and ceiling.

Cons:

1. Wish you could lock the laser self-leveling feature when not in use. It has not been an issue but it would just make my feel a little better knowing it wasn't bouncing around in between jobs.

2. Full price is a little high. I got it for around $100 here at Amazon as a Deal of the Day. Lucky me.

3. It needs a device to help me locate it because all my coworkers keep taking it.

DEWALT DW087K Horizontal and Vertical Self-Leveling Line Laser Level is one of the Great product. After searching through all different types of self-leveling lasers, I landed on this one. It was a little more expensive but is doing all you wanted it to, and more. Just make sure you order 5/8-11 by 1/4-20 Threaded Female to Male Tripod Adapter if you plan on putting it on a Dewalt tripod or you can use it on a regular camera tripod the way it is.

Bosch GLL3-80 3 Plane Leveling-Alignment Laser Level Review

This Bosch GLL3-80 Laser Level Reviews for 2012 discusses the pros and cons of the 3 Plane Leveling-Alignment.

Pros:

1. This is a very high end 360 degree three axis laser level.
2. It self levels, and beeps extremely loudly every time it isn't.
3. Tempted to tape over the speaker on the side to quiet it down.
4. The unit itself also seems pretty bullet-proof.
5. Tile work, wall, ceiling, cabinets etc. & lays it all out with little effort.
6. Bosch GLL3-80 makes layout, leveling and squaring a breeze for cabinet installers, finish carpenters, remodelers, electricians, tiles layout and other a lot easier ,more precise and saves you lot of time.

Click here to see the 39 customer reviews (32 gave it 5 star, 1 gave it 1 star!)

Cons:

1. For the new unit, the deviation from level/plumb for the horizontal line and one of the vertical lines is well within tolerance, but the second vertical line is right on the limit, right out of the box.
2. The two vertical lines were within the specified tolerance, but the horizontal level deviation was more than twice what the manual says is the maximum permissible.

Bosch GLL3-80 laser level is absolutely worth the money if you have to do commercial work that requires a straight and true line across long walls around rooms. You can also center to the middle of a room with the three-plane setting; this is actually cooler than it sounds, really. There are settings that change the number of planes displayed, so you don't always have to use all planes.

2. Makes locating plumb and level points a cinch.

4. They are fast, accurate, durable, compact, fits in pouches.

Cons:

1. Not very rugged.
2. When it is dropped, it goes way off course by at least 2 feet per 30 feet.

This PLS Laser PLS-60523 Laser Level Tool was a good investment. It beats a plumb bob for lining up plumb between points. It's very handy for leveling jobs too. For example, installing shelves in a closet - I can mount one shelf brace and level all the others for the same shelf by resting the level on the brace and marking points where I need to install other braces. The beam is 1 inch above the base, so I measure down from the first mark and that's where the top of the brace will need to be installed.
